Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snap, the company behind Snapchat, is just 26. He is one of the youngest business leaders in history to take a company public and is likely to be the youngest-ever CEO of a $30-billion company. And he has some career advice for you.
As reported by Jane Burnett in TheLadders, these are Spiegel’s four key pieces of guidance for career success.
- Skill up and broadcast your abilities: Make sure that you’re up to the job – and make sure that people know about your skills and capabilities.
- Make sure you’re not entirely reliant on someone else for your success: If you are, then you may well be waiting on them for things to happen – or, in a worst case scenario, they may have the power to pull out the rug from under you.
- Get out there: Take the initiative, get to know people and try to help them out. People are far more open to new ideas than you might expect.
- Have confidence in yourself: Only you can make things happen for yourself – have confidence in your abilities and your potential and try your very hardest.
