Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel’s four tips for career success

Evan Spiegel, the CEO of Snap, the company behind Snapchat, is just 26. He is one of the youngest business leaders in history to take a company public and is likely to be the youngest-ever CEO of a $30-billion company. And he has some career advice for you.

As reported by Jane Burnett in TheLadders, these are Spiegel’s four key pieces of guidance for career success.

  1. Skill up and broadcast your abilities: Make sure that you’re up to the job – and make sure that people know about your skills and capabilities.
  2. Make sure you’re not entirely reliant on someone else for your success: If you are, then you may well be waiting on them for things to happen – or, in a worst case scenario, they may have the power to pull out the rug from under you.
  3. Get out there: Take the initiative, get to know people and try to help them out. People are far more open to new ideas than you might expect.
  4. Have confidence in yourself: Only you can make things happen for yourself – have confidence in your abilities and your potential and try your very hardest.
