Studies have shown that your mood in the morning will affect how you feel for the entire workday. Because of this, waking up right and having the right morning rituals in place can have an enormous impact on your productivity and your sense of wellbeing, writes Eric Barker in Inverse.
- Think about meaning: Think about how your work helps people and how it fits into the big picture. Having a feeling of purpose in your life and a sense of your place in the world correlates with good health and even being more physically attractive to others.
- Plan: Feeling like you’re out of control makes people stressed, unhappy and unhealthy. Instead, think about what you want in life and set specific, achievable goals that will help you get there. This will give you a sense of accomplishment and make you feel less stressed and more confident.
- Think positive: Doing so will make you happier, healthier and more likeable and give you more energy to persist and persevere. And how do you actually become more optimistic? Planning and problem solving is in fact proven to drive positive thinking.
And to cap it off? A hug and a kiss – as positive relationships have consistently been shown to make people happier and healthier.
